Research Excellence Ladder: IOBA secures €850,000 to implement its strategic research plans
As part of the Regional Government of Castilla y León’s Research Excellence Ladder programme, IOBA applied as a unit and secured €850,000 over four years through the call for grants aimed at funding strategic plans, strategic research programmes and improvement programmes implemented by research structures of excellence under the framework of Castilla y León’s RIS3 2021–2027 strategy, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Our proposal represents both the culmination of the current 2021–2025 Strategic Plan and the foundation for the new 2026–2030 plan. At the same time, it is a recognition of 30 years of work, an anniversary reached on 19 December 2024 and to be celebrated in early 2025.
The funded actions fall within the Research and Transfer axis, the main one among the nine areas that make up the plan:

The awarding of this funding will help us continue to grow as a University Research Institute. At the same time, it represents a challenge that commits us to meeting the goals and objectives set out in our plan over the next four years
Plan Estratégico IOBA 2021 – 2025
Acceder a la Escalera de Excelencia, es una de los objetivos, ahora cumplidos, enmarcados en el eje 9. Modelo organizativo, liderazgo, comunicación, gestión y estructura financiera, de nuestro Plan Estratégico 2021-2025, con el objetivo de coordinar y orientar el eje 1. Investigación.
El seguimiento del plan de 2023 supone la consecución del 68% de las metas en los tres primeros años conseguidas, y un 8,6% en desarrollo.
Además, el Plan Estratégico, nació como una de las decisiones estratégicas derivadas de nuestro 25 aniversario. Plan, que será renovado en nuestro 30 aniversario que celebraremos durante 2025.
En concreto, la imp0rtancia de acceder al programa de Escalera de Excelencia, se desarrollaba con acciones y metas concretas en el eje 9: Modelo organizativo, liderazgo, comunicación, gestión y estructura financiera, en concreto en su objetivo 5: Orientar la actividad e incrementar la competitividad para poder concurrir con garantías en el programa «escalera de excelencia».
Este objetivo, persigue orientar el IOBA para mejorar nuestra actividad investigadoras a través de un plan estratégico, dentro de los parámetros definidos y evaluados por la Junta de Castilla y León.
